Barbara C.

I have had interstitial lung disease for about eight years and live in a retirement community. Using oxygen, Hepa filters and face masks are just a part of my life as has been some Stem Cell therapy, but I am still sick and will progressively lose lung function. For the past four years, I have been a facilitator for the American Lung Association and developed a Better Breathers Club in my community. Over 40 people with lung diseases have attended my monthly meetings and a lot of them tell me what we do is helpful, but the many days of unhealthy air impact all of us. Dirty air may or may not have caused our diseases, but it makes living day to day harder. Until our government and our society prioritize clean air, more and more people will struggle to breathe and needlessly suffer. We need to do whatever we can to make our air better and soon.
