Personally, we should be mindful of how much gas we burn and how much heating and cooling we use in our homes (if your utility relies on coal-burning). These are things we tend to do only do when the price of gasoline and electricity go up. Alternative fuels for now are the answer. Check out the East Tennessee Clean Fuels Coalition for more info at http://eerc.ra.utk.edu/etcfc/index.html. Then check out the newsletter for organizations across the state. Also, bombard your representatives and our state senators with demands to initiate policies like state-wide vehicle inspections and subsidies to producers of clean energy. The technology is here; but we have to get everybody on board.

Same here. Since moving to Sullivan County 3 years ago, have been diagnosed with asthma, and am on several medications for it. Recurring bronchitis is a major problem for me here. Eastman can buy any EPA rating it wants. I can't breathe!

Just moved to the mountains in east Tennessee to enjoy the great outdoors...stop..it seems the air is so polluted that they recommend checking the air quality before you exert yourself! What a shame that the Great Smoky Nat. Park is suffering from mans greed and ignorance. Please help us all before its to late!!!!!!

Pleasant View, Springfield & Coopertown areas are just a FEW of the areas that SEVERELY need to be tested! There are SO MANY tobacco barns out here where they dry the tobacco leaves in barns by putting sawdust on the floor of the barn and burning it, thus allowing the smoke to dry the tobacco leaves which then in turn is released into the air ALL over Robertson and Cheatham Counties (and many others as well). I CANNOT IMAGINE that this smoke that literally HANGS in the air in residential areas nearby can be healthy for little lungs...let alone anyone else!!!!!! HOW can this be LEGAL????????? I did not realize that this was even DONE until we moved out here....10 months after being out here, we experienced this for the first time and wished we had not moved out here....too late now. So do I keep my children indoors during this season (FALL)? Why are there no air quality tests done on this? Why does there seem to be no legislation regarding this? Why is no one addressing this????

I have a grandson with Asthma in Davidson County. He is on three meds daily (one of them a breathing steroid)and has been prescribed four allergy shots per week. Occasionally, he still has to have a breathing machine and at some times, has to go to ER because his breathing gets so bad.

Eastman chemical is the worst and there is also a government site and paper plant... what is up with these tests that say this area passes? bad test or bad people fixing the tests please someone look into this
