We moved out of California over a year ago, after our daughter's pediatrician said that she would have to start medications to help her breathing if we stayed.
We left good jobs and deep family roots in search of cleaner air in Middle America. In the process, we sold my great-grandfather's home, the one we restored in order to keep some of the history of California and our four and five generations there alive.
Anyone who downplays the costs of dirty air to local communities is just not paying attention. The irony is that the people with the resources to leave are the very ones you should be retaining if you want to prosper.
